Honoring the Energy of Week

For many years, I approached every day the same. I thought I needed to be as productive as possible, to work out as hard as I could, and to constantly do the most. Every morning carried the same expectation: do as much as I possibly could, as best I could! And while I could keep that up for a while, it often left me burnt out and disconnected from myself. I was the girl where in college I would be writing essays on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Sure, this freed me up on a Sunday and I could avoid feeling some of the “scaries” but I wasn’t really honoring what I needed on a Friday afternoon - to turn off, connect with friends, clear my mind and physical space. I had a really hard time turning “off” or letting myself just have the pleasure of disconnecting from my perception of whatever my “work” was at that time. I think ultimately it was just stemming from fear or a lack of trust in that on the other side of slowing down, I could streamline my energy in an even more efficient way.

When I really started to slow down, I began to notice something different. There is a collective rhythm to the seven days of the week — just as there are natural rhythms to the seasons. Each day holds its own texture, energy, and invitation. The more I listened to what my body and spirit were asking for — whether that was going inward and journaling, moving outward and getting physical, or pouring energy into creative output — the more balance I felt. I became less likely to burn out and more able to move through the week with steadiness. After some research, I learned that there is a planetary ruler to each weekday which also has influence on the energy of the day!

Every week I now follow more of a “rhythm” as a way to help me manage my energy. The way in which I utilize my energy on each day is a mix of collective energy, as well as my own personal flair to each day.

One small but powerful practice that has helped me is beginning each day by wearing a color that reflects its essence and the ruler of the day. The color is like a reminder — a way to embody the energy I want to carry with me. It’s a ritual of presence, a way to set the tone before the day begins. I don’t always wear the color, but maybe I’ll add it in my jewelry or some socks :)

Below  I share how I now move through the week, honoring both the collective planetary energies and my own personal rhythms. However, not everyday lines up perfectly, and sometimes I need to adjust. Sometimes I might be traveling all weekend and a Monday feels more energetically like a Sunday. I hope you take what you need from this and that it might help inspire you to tune into an energetic rhythm that works for you!!

Monday — Blue

  • Collective energy: The Moon rules Monday — emotional, intuitive, feminine, and tender.

  • My rhythm: I feel Monday as a reset, a soft landing into the week. It’s a day for grounding rituals and feminine energy.

  • Practices I love:

    • Morning meditation to set the tone.

    • A walk or some gentle strength work.

    • Cooking a wholesome dinner and meal prepping lunches.

    • Cleaning, tidying, folding laundry.

  • Why it matters: Monday feels like tending to the foundation — myself, my home, my family — so I can move forward from a place of steadiness.

Tuesday — Red 🔥

  • Collective energy: Ruled by Mars, Tuesday carries courage, action, and drive.

  • My rhythm: Tuesday is where momentum builds. It’s fiery, outward, and task-oriented.

  • Practices I love:

    • Treating it as a productive, high-output day.

    • Leaving the house, moving my body, and putting energy into creative projects.

    • I often would schedule an important work meeting or interview during Tuesday mornings. I knew I would arrive at the meeting feeling strong and ready to take on anything.

  • Why it matters: After Monday’s reset, Tuesday’s red energy lights the fire. It’s when I move things forward with clarity and strength.

Wednesday — Green 🌿

  • Collective energy: Mercury governs Wednesday — communication, connection, and reflection.

  • My rhythm: Wednesday feels like returning to the heart. It’s more inward and thoughtful.

  • Practices I love:

    • A core workout and a walk to move energy gently.

    • Pausing to reassess the week — what’s working, what needs shifting.

    • By Wednesday, Doug and I are pretty exhausted. I like to make something a little bit more fun and different for dinner, and I notice our conversations usually start to move towards plans for the weekend.

    • Instead of reading before bed, maybe we treat ourselves to a TV show together!

  • Why it matters: Wednesday is a midweek check-in, a day for listening, recalibrating, and reconnecting with myself and my family before the week speeds up again.

Thursday — Yellow 🌞

  • Collective energy: Thursday belongs to Jupiter — abundance, wisdom, expansion.

  • My rhythm: I experience Thursday as a day of strength, resilience, and showing up for myself. It’s outward and expressive.

  • Practices I love:

    • Listening to podcasts, tuning into the collective and putting myself in spaces where growth is possible.

    • I usually feel ready to “share” things on Thursday. Such as sharing a blog or Instagram post.

  • Why it matters: Thursday’s golden energy feels expansive. It’s a day to rise, shine, and step into a bigger version of myself.

Friday — Light Blue & Purple 💫

  • Collective energy: Venus rules Friday — love, beauty, connection, pleasure.

  • My rhythm: Friday is about clearing space and opening energy. It feels playful, social, spontaneous, and connective.

  • Practices I love:

    • Clearing clutter around the house.

    • Getting random unplanned tasks done.

    • Making plans with friends or family.

    • Letting the day unfold more in the flow.

    • Going for a walk just to “clear”

    • Spontaneous dinner plans!

    • (I really have to remind myself on Friday that it is Friday and I don’t need to “grind” anymore, especially if I have plants to do errands and be a bit more productive on Saturday.)

  • Why it matters: Friday is a reminder to soften, to connect, and to celebrate what’s beautiful and alive.

Saturday — Black ⚡️

  • Collective energy: Saturn governs Saturday — structure, responsibility, and discipline.

  • My rhythm: Saturday feels earthy, grounded, and sometimes intense. It’s a day of both getting things done and connecting socially.

  • Practices I love:

    • Errands, chores, and home resets.

    • A high-intensity workout or cardio.

    • Socializing and going out for dinner.

  • Why it matters: Saturday is where the week gets wrapped up — the practical and the playful woven together.

Sunday — White 🤍

  • Collective energy: The Sun rules Sunday — vitality, joy, self-expression.

  • My rhythm: Sunday feels clear and open. It’s sacred and restorative, family-oriented and reflective.

  • Practices I love:

    • Quiet mornings with family.

    • Grocery shopping, cooking, and baking.

    • Reflecting, writing, and sharing.

    • Yoga to reset my body and spirit.

    • I need to make sure that on Sundays I balance doing all the tasks I need to do to feel ready for the week (laundry, cleaning, cooking, etc) with time to just let my Soul unwind without an agenda.

  • Why it matters: Sunday is the integration point — the day that restores me and prepares me to begin again.

The Flow of the Week

When I look at the week as a whole, there’s a natural arc:

  • Monday (Blue): Reset and soften.

  • Tuesday (Red): Build momentum.

  • Wednesday (Green): Reconnect with the heart.

  • Thursday (Yellow): Expand and share outward.

  • Friday (Light Blue/Purple): Clear and connect.

  • Saturday (Black): Ground and complete.

  • Sunday (White): Reflect and restore.

This flow reminds me that not every day has to be lived at the same pace.

Learning to live in rhythm with the days has been one of the most nourishing shifts in my life. Instead of forcing every day into the same mold of productivity and output, I let each day show me what it has to offer. Some days ask me to go inward, some to expand outward, some to reset or complete.

By honoring these cycles — even in small ways like choosing a color to wear or a ritual to begin the day — I’ve found more balance, more ease, and more joy. It’s a reminder that life has a natural pulse, and when we learn to move with it instead of against it, we find ourselves in flow.
